Ingredients
Scale
Fish
- 1 lb white fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Tortillas
- 8 small corn tortillas
Cilantro Lime Slaw
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage
- ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of 2 limes
- Salt to taste
Garlic Lime Yogurt Sauce
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Juice of 1 lime
Instructions
- Season the Fish: Pat dry the fish fillets thoroughly with paper towels to ensure they crisp up nicely. Season both sides evenly with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Drizzle olive oil over the fillets and rub the seasoning in to coat well.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes. This ensures even cooking and crispy results.
- Air Fry the Fish: Arrange the seasoned fish fillets in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown on the outside and flakes easily with a fork.
- Prepare the Cilantro Lime Slaw: While the fish cooks, combine shredded green cabbage, chopped cilantro, juice of 2 limes, and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Toss well to blend the flavors for a fresh, tangy slaw.
- Make the Garlic Lime Yogurt Sauce: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the plain Greek yogurt, garlic powder, and juice of 1 lime until smooth and creamy.
- Warm the Tortillas & Assemble Tacos: Gently warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable. Assemble each taco by placing a portion of crispy fish on a tortilla, topping with a generous helping of the cilantro lime slaw, and drizzling the garlic lime yogurt sauce over the top. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Fish Choice: Cod or tilapia work best for their mild flavor and flaky texture but swai or haddock can also be used.
- To get extra crispy fish, pat the fillets dry before seasoning and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the fish seasoning mix.
- Warm tortillas just before assembling to prevent them from becoming dry or brittle.
- This recipe can be made gluten free by ensuring tortillas do not contain gluten and using gluten-free yogurt.
