Description

This Air Fryer Steak recipe delivers a perfectly cooked, juicy ribeye steak with a flavorful homemade garlic herb butter. Using an air fryer ensures a quick and easy meal with a beautifully seared exterior and tender interior, ideal for a delicious dinner in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Herb Butter

  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, chopped (parsley and basil recommended)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Steak

  • 1 (2 pound) bone-in ribeye steak
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Heat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for 5 minutes to ensure it’s hot and ready for the steak.
  2. Prepare the garlic herb butter: In a bowl, mash the softened butter with a fork. Add the minced garlic, chopped herbs, Worcestershire sauce, dried garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until the herbs and seasonings are evenly distributed. You can keep this in the bowl or shape into a log using plastic wrap, then refrigerate for about 20 minutes while the steak is prepped.
  3. Season the steak: Pat the ribeye dry with paper towels to remove moisture for better searing. Generously season both sides with sea salt and cracked black pepper.
  4. Cook the steak – first phase: Place the seasoned steak in the hot air fryer basket. Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes to start the cooking and develop the crust.
  5. Adjust cooking to desired doneness: Check the steak’s internal temperature using a meat thermometer. Continue cooking at 425°F for an additional 1 to 5 minutes to reach your preferred doneness—less time for medium-rare and longer for medium-well or well done. Skip this step if the steak is at your desired temperature after the initial 10 minutes.
  6. Rest the steak and serve: Remove the steak from the air fryer and place it on a cutting board or warmed plate. Let it rest for 3 to 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Optionally cover with aluminum foil while resting. Serve slices topped with the prepared garlic herb butter.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium, 150°F for medium-well.
  • Letting the steak rest is important to retain juiciness.
  • You can customize the herb butter with your favorite herbs such as thyme or rosemary.
  • If you don’t have fresh herbs, dried can be used but reduce quantity to avoid overpowering.
  • Adjust air fryer models and times slightly depending on thickness of the steak and air fryer wattage.
