Scale
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup aged balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for roasting the strawberries.
- Prepare Strawberries: Hull the strawberries and cut them into halves or quarters depending on their size. Place the cut strawberries evenly in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish.
- Add Sugar and Balsamic Vinegar: Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the strawberries, then drizzle the aged balsamic vinegar on top. Carefully stir the mixture to combine the ingredients evenly without breaking up the fruit too much.
- Roast Mixture: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and roast for 45 minutes. Halfway through roasting, stir the strawberries gently once. Roast until the vinegar has reduced and the mixture becomes thick and syrupy.
- Cool and Store: Remove from the oven and allow the balsamic strawberry sauce to cool completely. Once cooled, cover and store the sauce in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Notes
- Choose ripe but firm strawberries for best texture after roasting.
- The sauce can be used as a topping for ice cream, cheesecake, pancakes, or mixed into yogurt.
- Store refrigerated for up to one week.
- You can adjust the sugar amount based on the sweetness of your strawberries.
- For a thicker sauce, roast a few minutes longer but monitor to avoid burning.
