Ingredients
Scale
Mozzarella Sticks
- 1 lb mozzarella cheese (cut into 1-inch cubes)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1/4 cup milk
- Oil for frying
Marinara Sauce
- 1 jar (15 oz) marinara sauce
Creamy Dip
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
Instructions
- Prepare Coatings: In one shallow dish, combine the flour, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another shallow dish, whisk together the beaten eggs and milk until well blended.
- Coat the Cheese Cubes: Dip each mozzarella cube first into the egg mixture to fully wet the surface, then dredge it in the flour and breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even and thorough coating on all sides.
- Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the coated mozzarella cubes into the hot oil in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain Excess Oil: Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mozzarella sticks and place them onto paper towels to absorb any excess oil and keep them crisp.
- Make the Creamy Dip: In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, chopped parsley, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the dip is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Serve: Arrange the crispy mozzarella sticks on a serving platter. Serve them warm alongside the jarred marinara sauce and the prepared creamy dip for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to get a crispy coating and prevent the cheese from melting too quickly and leaking out.
- For extra crispiness, double coat the mozzarella by repeating the egg and breadcrumb dips.
- If you want to prepare ahead, freeze the coated mozzarella sticks for 30 minutes before frying to help maintain their shape and prevent melting too fast.
- Use fresh parsley in the dip for the best flavor and brightness.
- Serve immediately after frying for the best texture and taste, as mozzarella sticks can soften if left standing.
